Dear Bradley Campus Community:
A crime has recently occurred in the Bradley University campus area and we want you to be informed so you can take appropriate precautions. Advisory Alerts are issued for incidents that have already occurred but do not require immediate action by recipients.
On Sunday, February 19, 2023, at approximately 3:18 a.m. Peoria Police responded to a local hospital on a report of a gunshot victim who had arrived by private vehicle.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim who is not affiliated with Bradley University. The victim told police he was shot in the leg by an unknown subject while walking in the 1800 block of W. Callender Ave. A friend of the victim transported him to the hospital. The victim’s injuries are non life-threatening.
Peoria Police officers and Bradley University Police officers then conducted an investigation in the 1700 and 1800 blocks of Callender and Western Avenues and were unable to locate any evidence to support the shooting occurred at that location.
This incident is under investigation. On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at approximately 8:24 p.m., Bradley University Police and Peoria Police responded to a report of a vehicular hijacking in the 1200 block of N. Underhill Street. This is approximately one block east of N. University Street and two blocks north of W. Main Street.No injuries have been reported. There is no imminent threat to campus.
The suspect approached the victim who was sitting in their parked vehicle, displayed a handgun, demanded and then obtained the victim's vehicle. The victim's vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound on W. Columbia Terrace, away from the Bradley University campus. The victim, a Bradley student, was not injured.
The suspect was described as a male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

On Sunday, January 29, 2023, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Peoria Police responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 1800 block of Bradley Ave. This is approximately two blocks south of W. Main St., and approximately seven blocks west of N. University St. The victim voluntary met the suspect at that location to sell a cellular phone. While there, the suspect produced a gun and took the cellular phone from the victim. There were no injuries.
There is no imminent threat to campus.
An investigation is continuing.
